Nettleham News readers who own a dog may be interested to know that a brand new dog-grooming boutique has recently opened for business in the village.

Michelle Major, the proprietor of new Major Groom, recently moved back to the village with her family as her husband grew up in the village and they have always considered it to be a beautiful location in which to raise their family.

Michelle said: “For many years I took my dogs to an excellent local groomer, but unfortunately the lady closed the business for health reasons. Since then, I have tried a number of different groomers in the area, but I was unable to find one that offered the exceptional and consistently high standards which I expect.”

An experienced professional hairdresser for many years, I decided to return to college and obtain a City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Grooming, which would enable me to open my own business offering dog owners not only the very best in grooming, but also knowledgable advice on animal health and welfare.²

Michelle has now achieved her ambition to establish a business of her own offering only the very best one-to-one service to the owners of all breeds of dog.

The modern, purpose-built premises on Sudbrooke Lane contains the very latest equipment to ensure that the business conforms to all Health & Safety regulations and the Animal Welfare Act of 2006.

Using the latest equipment and techniques ensures that owners can be fully confident to entrust their pets to her care, knowing that their comfort, consideration and safety is paramount at all times.

The prime consideration in the business is the creation of a friendly and homely environment in which all the needs and requirements of the dogs are taken into account. It is very important that the animals can feel relaxed and secure whilst they are being groomed.

Dogs respond well to familiarity and routine and Michelle intends to develop a personal relationship with all the dogs which come to Major Groom, in order that they enjoy the experience.

In addition to grooming, Michelle also offers additional services including hand stripping, bathing in specialist shampoos, ear and eye cleaning, nail clipping and grinding and an all-round health check.

A convenient pick-up and drop-off service is also available for clients who may not have suitable transport of their own.

From her already extensive experience and knowledge in dog handling and grooming, Michelle knows that different breeds of dog have very different individual qualities and her ultimate ambition is to become one of the best groomers in the UK.

To this end, she is embarking on a further education course lasting 2-5 years, culminating in the prestigious Higher Diploma in Dog Grooming – the highest qualification in the profession, which only the elite can achieve and which results in being admitted as a member of the Guild of Master Groomers.

Michelle has always been passionate about dogs, growing up in a family where there were always dogs around. She has a photograph of her taken as a small child on a rug in the garden with two large German Shepherds either side of her, so from a very early age she has developed a deep fondness for, and empathy with, dogs of all different breeds and sizes.

She currently owns four dogs herself and thinks they are can be a valuable and important addition to any family, teaching children from an early age a sense of love, care and responsibility.

Michelle would welcome anyone who wishes to come and take a look around Major Groom for themselves. There is free customer parking and a large secure exercise area for the dogs.

So if you are seeking first-class dog grooming services, why not arrange a prior consultation with Michelle, which will enable her to gain an overview of your pet¹s individual requirements, health and lifestyle and provide you with a detailed quotation at very competitive prices.
